Stupid design failure that clearly demonstrates the clueless nature of the designers of this space: check

The reality is that this would never be allowed to happen if it were infrastructure for automobiles. This routinely happens only for pedestrian infrastructure. Why? Because we have obsessive attention to detail on the things that matter to us and only pay superficial heed to those that don't.
