2,640 And Counting

Today we wrap up our fall member drive. With Strong Towns in its 10th year, we’re gratified and humbled to see our message resonating with more new names and faces than ever before. In the past week alone, more than 201 new members, at latest count, have joined our movement. The grand total stands at 2,640. And the phone calls and online sign-ups are still coming in!

But what really blows me away about these numbers is that if I know anything about our movement, it's that every single one of them has a story. And I can't wait to hear them.

I can't wait to hear about what you're doing to make your town stronger, whether that's leading your city council to create change or simply writing a few words to a friend about why this stuff matters.

I can't wait to learn about your communities and what makes the place you love so extraordinary, even if you're struggling right now.

I can't wait for you to tell me about the diverse, creative, unimaginable ways you will apply our approach to transform your place — especially if those transformations are the kind of small, quiet changes that can radically re-shape our communities like nothing else can.

I know you have these stories, because our existing members have been sharing these stories with us for years. And we’ve shared some of them with you this week. And you’ve shared them yourselves, telling the world #WhyIJoinedStrongTowns.

Your stories are what Strong Towns comes down to. Many of the stories we tell in our articles and multimedia content come straight from our members (pitch us if you’ve got one to share!). We don’t believe we have all the answers as to how to make the place you live more financially strong and more resilient. We believe that must come about through bottom-up action, through thousands of small, incremental investments in our communities, through continuous adaptation to feedback and learning from what we’ve seen work.

Our new members have joined a community of Strong Citizens with unique wisdom and inspiration to share with each other. We’re glad to have each and every one of you.

If you’re inspired by our work but haven't joined yet, there's still time. Join us now. We'll do amazing things together.
