Calling All Strong-Towns-Minded Job Seekers and Employers!
There are any number of ways the Strong Towns movement can be activated where you live. One of them—and one which we may not talk about often enough—is getting talented Strong Towns-minded people hired in your town or city. Imagine how the conversation would shift in your community with more Strong Towns advocates in your city’s planning or public works departments, at the chamber of commerce, in local nonprofits, etc.
We created a resource meant to connect Strong Towns advocates ready for a new job, with employers hoping to hire Strong Towns advocates. This is the Action Lab Job Board. In recent weeks, new openings have been posted from across the United States: Tennessee and Georgia, New Hampshire and Washington State, and points between. These include positions in the fields of transportation, capital projects, finance, preservation, and non-profit leadership.
If you’re a government agency, nonprofit, or business who wants to hire a Strong Towns advocate, we encourage you to post your position there. Heck, if you’re a citizen and you see your city is hiring for a position that would benefit from a Strong Towns approach, go ahead and post the position on the Job Board yourself. A few minutes of your time could pay massive dividends for your city going forward.
To see the latest job posting, or to create one of your own, visit the Job Board.
On this episode of the Strong Towns Podcast, Chuck discusses safe streets advocacy with Amy Cohen, the co-founder and president of Families for Safe Streets.
